Fellowship Groups
We have fellowship/service groups to coincide with the age and
interests of everyone. Adults have several groups from which to choose,
as well as three Circles of United Methodist Women, and youth groups for
both middle and high school students.
To find out more about any of these groups, contact
the church office.

Aldersgate
This is a group of adults in the 60+ age category. Our varying
service to the church includes coffee service, scrubbing walls, cleaning
tables and/or weeding flowerbeds. Service to others focuses on Scott
House, a refuge for the homeless in Detroit. We find fellowship in
theater parties, potlucks, barbecues and friendly get-togethers. Most
meetings are on the 4th Saturday of the month.
Back 40
We are a social group consisting of approximately 40 members beyond
the age of 50. We meet, usually, the third Saturday of each
month,September thru May. Activities range from table games through
plays to events outside the city. There is usually a May “Weekend Away”
for some extended group fellowship. We give service to the church in
varied ways and enjoy building friendships. If you are interested,
you’ll be welcome.
Double Ring
While we enjoy many social opportunities and fellowship, we are
active in serving the church with several projects including:
serving/providing lunches for the homeless and working-class poor at
Central UMC, planting and weeding the Ritter Memorial Garden and tending
the shrubs in front of the church, preparing dinner for S.O.S. guests,
greeting at the Youth Room door, providing funds for the rose given at
each baptism, and serving coffee following worship in July.
KeepSAKE
(Keep Serving and Keep Enjoying) We are a social group in the late
30's to 50-ish age range, who enjoy couple oriented activities – game
nights, plays, movies, concerts and anything involving food! We also
serve the church through Focus:Hope, meal preparation for S.O.S., and
decorating the church for the Christmas season. Most of our gatherings
are the 2nd Saturday of the month.
P.O.T.T.E.R.s
(Parents of Toddlers Together Experiencing Relationships) This
fellowship group is a wonderful opportunity to get our little ones (ages
0-5 years) together to play and engage other adults in nice
conversation. We will be meeting the third Sunday of the month after
worship, (except in the month of December.) Our activities are preschool
age focused.
Ladies Night Out
Ladies Night Out meets once a month on the fourth Wednesday,
beginning at 6:30 p.m., at Bahama Breeze on Haggerty and Seven Mile
Road. Relax over dinner and an evening out with other women. No
reservations necessary, just come and enjoy! For more information
contact the office
Scrapping
Scrapping meets on the second Wednesday of each month from 6:00—-9:30
p.m. in the Middle School Room, for new and experienced scrappers. Bring
all the material you need for working on your pages.
Quilters
Come and bring your own projects to work on or help with one of the
churches comfort quilts. We begin and end with devotions and sew and
fellowship in between. Everyone is welcome to come on the first
Wednesday of each month, from 6:30 -9:30 p.m.
Nardineers
While this is not an official group of the church, this is an
organization open to all seniors seeking broader friendships,
interesting luncheon meetings and travel opportunities. Originated by
this church in 1972, it has expanded to include persons of all faiths,
with diverse interests, talents and activities. Annual membership is
just $20., which supports the programs and operating expenses. We meet
on the first and third Wednesdays of each month, September through June.
The first meeting is “sandwich day,” when you bring your own sandwich,
salad, etc. Beverage and dessert is provided for $1. A hot lunch is
served the third Wednesday for $5. Contact the office for reservation
information.
Pacesetters
Pacesetters are a “lively bunch” of seniors that enjoy having fun
together. We have one work day each year for a church project. The rest
of the time we attend plays, concerts, game nights at the church, or
dine out at an interesting restaurant. Once a year we help with S.O.S.
In August we served coffee after church. Each Sunday we greet guests who
enter through the west door. We pay annual dues of $7 per person, that
is used for a good cause around the church.
United Methodist Women
United Methodist Women offers an opportunity to any woman to belong
to a sisterhood, not only here at Nardin Park, but with over one million
women across the nation, through which one can grow spiritually and
supportively through caring fellowship, learning, and action. We seek
ways to aid our church and community and are advocates for women and
children.
You may participate through meetings, giving, and/or service as best
and as often as possible. There is a place for any woman with any
schedule.
