Three Simple Rules for Christian Living by Reuben Job, reflects on three principles of Christian living illuminated by John Wesley in the General Rules and revisited by Bishop Rueben Job in his book Three Simple Rules: Do No Harm, Do Good, and Stay in Love with God. This study presents the early Wesleyan understandings of spiritual disciplines that can transform us and the world in which we live and can lead to a more faithful way of living as a disciple of Jesus Christ.

Course #3 - Parables of Jesus Instructor- Instructor: Rev. Bob Bough

This class is for adults and will use the Bible for the text. There is no fee.

Course #4 - An Invitation to the Gospel as Storytelling- Instructor: Rev. Susan Youmans

This class is for adults and will use the Bible for the text. There is no fee. Through the biblical narrative, the stories of God, Jesus Christ becomes present. There is a sense where Jesus tells his own story, first to and through the evangelists and then to and through us. When these moments of authentic connection take place, Jesus is really there. Thus, telling the stories of the Gospels is one of the forms of the real presence of Christ. You are invited to come along on this Gospel journey into the sacred journey where God’s story becomes our story.

Course #5 - Songs and Stories - Instructor: Jim Allbery

This class is for adults and youth. There is no fee. From beloved hymns like “When Peace Like a River,” to contemporary Christian favorites like “Open the Eyes of My Heart,” every song has a story. Often, these stories are as moving and inspirational as the songs themselves! Jim Allbery will lead this class that uses a song as the basis of devotions and reflections. In addition to discussing how he wrote some of his own songs, Jim will share faith-based stories that draw on sources ranging from Charles Wesley to Bob Dylan. This hour of music, fellowship and reflection requires only your presence, participation, and desire to grow closer to God.

Course #6 - The Will of God- Instructor: Rev. Wes Brun

This class is for adults and will use the text The Will of God Workbook, Leslie Weatherhead, Cost: $9. This workbook helps readers discern God's will for themselves and their communities. The entire contents of Weatherhead's classic book "The Will of God" is reprinted, with three case studies added to illustrate the difficult questions that arise in understanding the will of God.

Enroll for the class of your choice by registering in Mercer Hall or by contacting the office.
