Leadership Team Of Nardin Park United Methodist Church
Lead Pastor - Dr. Dale Miller
The
Rev. Dr. Dale M. Miller became our lead pastor on July 1, 2006. Dr.
Miller received a Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance from
Illinois Wesleyan University, a Master of Divinity degree from
Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary, a Doctor of Ministry degree
from United Seminary, and a Church Business Administrator Certification
from Candler School of Theology.
Dale has come to Nardin Park after serving six years
as the Superintendent of the Detroit East District. Previous churches
served include Waterford Central, Flint Central, Gladstone Memorial,
Stony Creek and Plymouth First (Associate).
Primary Responsibilities: Preaching, Worship,
Evangelism, Administration, Visioning, and Coaching
He is the husband to Susan (35 years) and the father
of Walker, Kate, Sarah and Sam.

Pastor - Rev. Mary Shipley
Rev.
Mary Shipley was appointed to Nardin Park in 2002. Rev. Shipley holds
degrees from the University of Michigan and United Theological Seminary.
Prior coming to Nardin Park she served for six years as the Associate
Pastor of Grosse Pointe United Methodist Church.
Primary Responsibilities: Missions, Education,
Spiritual Formation, Family Life and Confirmation Class
She is married to David. They are the parents of
Eleanor Jane Li and Heather.

Pastor of Congregational Care- Rev. Bob Bough

Rev. Bob Bough returned to our ministry team in the
fall of 2006, where he serves as our Pastor of Congregational Care.
Prior to his retirement in 2004, Bob served several United Methodist
churches in Michigan (Pontiac Covert, Vassar and Madison Heights) before
becoming a substance abuse counselor.
He is a graduate of Michigan State University (B.S.
in Police Science) and Methodist Theological School in Ohio (M. Div. and
a M.A. in Drug and Alcohol Abuse Counseling). Bob and his wife, Carolyn,
have been a part of Nardin Park since 1990, when Bob first came on
staff.

Care Team & Visitation, and V.I.P.

Director of Music - Melvin Rookus
Mr.
Rookus has been Organist/Director of Music at Nardin Park since 1977. A
native of Bay City, Michigan, he has both B.M. and M.M. degrees from the
University of Michigan, studying organ with Ray Ferguson and Robert
Glasgow. He oversees a music program that includes six choirs, including
an adult choir (Chancel Choir), a youth choir (New Generations), two
children's choirs (Wesley and Cherub), an adult hand bell choir, and a
liturgical dance choir.
Under his direction the church now has a 48 rank, 3
manual Casavant organ, a Petrof concert grand piano, and a 3,000 square
foot music facility with a music library of over 5,000 titles.
Nardin Park presents a Music Series that averages 16
concerts each year by artists from throughout the United States and
abroad. Over 5000 people hear these concerts each season. Mel has also
composed numerous anthems sung by the Nardin Park choirs and has
commissioned new anthems from respected composers in the field of sacred
music.

Coordinator of Youth Ministries - Rebecca Cook
Coming
to Nardin Park in 2001, Becky oversees all of our teen based activities
for sixth through twelfth grade youth. Our youth
ministry is a well established, yet ever-changing palette of
programs and events designed to encourage youth to grow in their faith
and understanding of God, while enjoying fun and fellowship with
friends.
Becky grew up in Chardon, Ohio, and graduated from
Cleveland State University with a B.S. in Religion. She loves books,
music, movies and sports as well as spending time with friends and
family.
Primary Responsibilities: Common Ground, Appalachia
Service Project (ASP), After-School Program, and Confirmation

Coordinator of Children's Church School - Laura
Olson
Laura
and husband John have been members of Nardin Park for 13 years. They
have two children, Kellee and David, who are both involved in our youth
group and sing in the New Generation Youth Choir.
Primary Responsibilities: Sunday
School Program and Vacation
Church School
Laura lends needed support to Rev. Shipley. She keeps
herself busy tracking attendance of our church school children,
recruiting and training our teachers, selecting and implementing the
curriculums, coordinate purchasing of supplies, and provide support for
educational programs.
